Fiberglass Chopped Strand Mat (CSM)
Fiberglass Chopped Strand Mat (CSM) is a non-woven reinforcement material made from randomly distributed glass fibers bonded together with a binder. It is designed for use with polyester, vinyl ester, and epoxy resins, offering excellent wettability, conformability, and ease of handling.
CSM is widely used in hand lay-up, spray-up, and compression molding processes due to its ability to provide uniform thickness, high strength, and smooth surface finish.
Key Features
• Excellent resin absorption and fast wet-out
• Good conformability to complex shapes and contours
• Provides uniform thickness and consistent mechanical properties
• Enhances surface finish and reduces print-through
• Compatible with most thermosetting resins (UPR, VE, Epoxy)
• Easy to cut, handle, and apply
Applications
• Boat building and marine components
• Automotive parts and panels
• FRP tanks, pipes, and ducts
• Construction panels and roofing sheets
• Sanitary ware (bathtubs, sinks)
• General fiberglass fabrication and repair
